A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE WEST LINCOLN HIGH SCHOOL LADY BEARS BASKETBALL TEAM FOR AN OUTSTANDING SEASON.

WHEREAS, the West Lincoln High School Lady Bears won both the Lincoln County Tournament and the South Mississippi Tournament; and

WHEREAS, the Lady Bears had an outstanding season, ending with a 23-11 record; and

WHEREAS, West Lincoln, after a fine showing and against stiff competition, was named the South Mississippi 1-A champs; and

WHEREAS, the Lady Bears team members are a fine example of what dedicated play can mean to the game; and

WHEREAS, every member of the team is an integral part of the team's success; and

WHEREAS, players Becky Smith, Rusti Smith and Amanda Bass were named to the All-South Mississippi team, and Amanda Bass and Rusti Smith were named to the All-State team; and

WHEREAS, the girls have been inspired by Coach Jack Case; and

WHEREAS, Coach Case commends his ladies for their hard work, saying they are great achievers who accomplished more than even he anticipated; and

WHEREAS, the Lady Bears have developed a winning and cooperative spirit and a high degree of sportsmanship, as their activities and attitude reflect; and

WHEREAS, it is the policy of this Legislature to recognize, commend and encourage excellence, especially when demonstrated by the youth of our state:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MISSISSIPPI SENATE, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the West Lincoln High School Lady Bears for their championship win and outstanding season of hoops, and for displaying tireless devotion to their athletic endeavors.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to West Lincoln High School and Coach Case.
